The N&N Group’s research is mainly focused in the rational synthesis of nanoparticles and nanocomposites and the study of their structural-functional properties incluing those related to the nano/bio interfaces. The group vision is to see our materials impacting in Nanomedicine, Information Technologies or Energy and Environment. Surf our website if you want to know more about us and our research!
The article “Unlocking the Potential of Wood Residues for Producing Screen-Printed Electrochemical Sensors” has been published in ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering!
The article “Biosafety evaluation of etoposide lipid nanomedicines in C. elegans” has been published in Drug Delivery and Translational Research journal.
The article “Caenorhabditis elegans endorse bacterial nanocellulose fibers as functional dietary Fiber reducing lipid markers” has been published in Carbohydrate Polymers journal.

We want to congratulate Emma Prades and Laura Fernández Astillero for the excellent grades they got in their #TDF! They did an amazing job at NN group under Pol Alonso’s supervision! Congrats!!
Our Ph.D. student Amanda Muñoz-Juan was graduated with a Ph.D. in Biotechnology from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona on the 16th of January 2024. Her thesis, “Assessment of Bacterial Nanocellulose on Caenorhabditis elegans,” was supervised by Dr. Anna Laromaine at ICMAB-CSIC.
The N&N group participates in the @NextGEM_eu project, for which we prepared this video explaining how we work with c.elegans. 🪱
👉 Dr. @PolAlonso1 explains how we use these nematodes and why they are useful for assessing biological effects.
