We are looking for good and motivated people who want to join a dynamic and active group as undergraduates, Master students, Ph.D. students or postdoctoral fellows. There are different types of fellowships and grants available during the year.


Join a Doctoral Programme with DocFam+

DocFam+ (DOCtoral training programme in Functional Advanced Materials: Towards a Better Future) is an ICMAB-led programme that will recruit 26 doctoral researchers in 7 different institutes. DocFam+ is an interdisciplinary and intersectoral research programme which offers a competitive salary and international experience.

The N&N group offers three projects within this programme:

  • Multifunctional nanocomposites for aqueous metal-air batteries – Dino Tonti & Pablo Guardia
  • Bio-friendly and flexible electronic devices for sensing – Marta Mas-Torrent & Anna Loramaine
  • Complex iron nitrides: from quantum materials to permanent magnets – Amparo Fuertes & Martí Gich

Postdoctoral positions

  • Students in their last year of PhD

Periodically there is the possibility to join the group as a post-doctoral researcher, we look for excellent and highly motivated researchers. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like to apply.

Possibilities range from the Marie Curie actions of the European Commission to various national schemes. Of special interest are two Spanish funding schemes that are yearly open to applicants from any nationality:

  • Juan de la Cierva fellowships of the Spanish Ministry of Science and Education: Roughly, applications are due in March, awardees are made public in June, and work starts in October-November
  • Fellowships of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC): Roughly, applications are due in December and awardees are made public in March-April

Both of them involve 3-year contracts that offer an excellent opportunity for professional development. Generally speaking, both PhD holders and students in their last year of PhD can apply to these positions. Some flexibility in the starting date is usually allowed by the funding agencies.

Our group is prepared to supervise Ph.D. students and support grant applications. There are different options during the year to apply for a Ph.D. positions.
