Good news has been received from Programa d’Indústria del Coneixement! The project Novel Nanocellulose Patches to Treat Corneal Wounds (CORNEAL-BC) has been awarded with a 20.000€ grant.

The CSIC launched the JAE Intro 2020: Introduction to research fellowships for University students. The objective of this program is to introduce students to research activity in diverse scientific areas and to enable them to be in contact with CSIC research centres. Three projects are offered by N&N Group. The call is open from 9 March to 9 April 2020.
Wenchao and Anna Roig attended the conference “Aerogels for Biomedical and Environmental Applications” that took place in Santiago de Compostela on 18-20 February. Anna gave a talk on bacterial nanocellulose as a cell culture platform and Wenchao presented a talk and a poster about his work.
Wenchao was awarded the Best Collaborative Poster Contribution award and the Best Oral Presentation in Early Career Investigator Forum award. Congratulations!
From the 12th until the 15th of February Nerea Murugarren attended the NanoGUNE Winter School 2020 in CIC NanoGUNE San Sebastian. The course included Scientific Sessions and Hands-On Lab Practices. As a student, it was a really fruitful experience for her.
A paper authored by Martí Gich, “Unconventional Ferroelectric Switching via Local Domain Wall Motion in Multiferroic ε‐Fe2O3 Films“, was recently published in open access in Advanced Electronic Materials. It is a result of a collaboration between scientists from ICMAB, Aalto University and Forschungszentrum Jülich. It has received funding from the ERC.

On January 29, Anna Laromaine and Amanda Muñoz attended the Second BAR Meeting about C. elegans. Barcelona-based community of experts on the small worm met in the Bocconcino bar to talk about their research and experience in an informal setting.
