Muling Zheng attended the 2013 Chunhui Science Conference

altMuling attended the 2013 Chunhui Science Conference (26th June – 2nd July, Dalian, China) (www.chinaocs.com). The conference was organized by the Science and Technology Ministry and Education Ministry of China. Its purpose is to introduce a number of advanced technologies and projects overseas of high-level talents to return China. 1,270 overseas students were selected. Muling was the only representative from Spain. 28 provinces and municipalities have been enrolled in this conference. China is offering a very strong economical support for  students abroad.

Large Group attendance to the E-MRS Symposia in Strasbourg

EMRS_2013Nerea Murillo, Anna Laromaine and Anna Roig attended the E-MRS Spring Meeting in Strasbourg. They were busy running from symposium Q to symposium U and R.
Anna Roig gave an invited contribution on Symposium Q: “Bionanomaterials for imaging, sensing and actuating”.

Scholarship granted to Laura González

assistencia sanitariaAssistència Sanitària has granted a scholarship to Laura that covers 50 % of the tuition fee of the course on “Sistemes de qualitat en la indústria i la investigació farmacèutica” that she attended before joining us. The diplomas will be presented to the grantees next 18th June at the Hospital of Barcelona.

Martí Gich has participated in a study published today in Science

altIn this study, authors demonstrate the formation of oriented piezoelectrically active α-quartz thin films directly on silicon. Films are prepared by dip-coating from alcohol/ water solutions of soluble silicic acid precursors plus surfactant or block copolymer structure-directing agents. Solvent evaporation drives the self-assembly of amorphous silica films composed of ordered arrays of pores. An appropriate thermal treatment results on epitaxial quartz films.

We congratulate the authors and specially our group member Martí Gich. You can read the full article
