Jan presented an ICMAB seminar on face masks – materials and reusability

Face masks are still one of the key factors helping us face the current COVID-19 pandemic, and have been part of the conversation since the first responses to the virus started to appear. The other key factor is physical distancing. Jan Grzelak, a PhD student in N&N Group, has presented an Online ICMAB Seminar on the current knowledge we have on the materials used to create masks and their reusability.

Anna Laromaine and Amanda attended the BAR Meeting on C. elegans in Barcelona

On January 29, Anna Laromaine and Amanda Muñoz attended the Second BAR Meeting about C. elegans. Barcelona-based community of experts on the small worm met in the Bocconcino bar to talk about their research and experience in an informal setting.

Irene will give a talk for the Pint of Science festival

Between 14 and 16 May 2018, the bars of Barcelona will be full of science. Pint of Science is back in town!

Anna Laromaine inaugura el curs a l’INS Cassà de la Selva

Aquest dijous dia 14 de setembre de 2017, l’Anna Laromaine ha donat la conferència inaugural a l’Institut de Cassà de la Selva donant el tret de sortida al nou curs. Com a antiga alumna de l’institut, ha presentat la investigació del grup N&N. També els ha animat a treballar per ser el que vulguin ser i fer realitat el títol de la xerrada: De l’INS Cassà to the world!

Anna May and Anna Laromaine participate in the festival 10alamenos9

Yesterday (26th April 2017) two members of the N&N Group actively participated in a science outreach festival called 10alamenos9: Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Festival!

The aim of this event is to bring nanotechnology closer to society. It is addressed to people of all ages and educational backgrounds and takes place in different cities in Spain.

Anna May in a course about Science and Media at the RTVE studios

Anna May has participated this week in the course “El científico ante los medios de comunicación“ organized by Fundación Dr. Antonio Esteve, Indagando TV, Instituto RTVE and CSIC, with 25 other scientists of different fields. The course took place at the RTVE (Radio y Televisión Española) studios, in Sant Cugat del Vallès.

This week ICMAB participates actively in the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, which is on February 11.

The activities in Spain are gathered under the name “11febrero” and can be found in the webpage https://11defebrero.org/.

The N&N Group participates in the Nano Festival at the Campus UAB

The N&N Group has collaborated in the first science outreach festival of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. This festival, held between April 4th-8th 2016 in different locations of the Spanish geography (Zaragoza, Donostia, Barcelona, and Campus UAB) is full of different activities: seminars, exhibitions, workshops, nanodebates and competitions.
