Cngratulations, Dr. Yajie Zhang!

On September 15, N&N Group member Yajie Zhang defended his PhD thesis, entitled “Multimodal Imaging PLGA Nanocapsules as Protein Carrier for Potential Neurorepair in Ischemic Brain“.

Yajie’s thesis was supervised by N&N Group leader Anna Roig and Anna Rosell from Vall d’Hebron Research Institute.

Congratulations to Yajie and his supervisors!

Anna Roig was a Keynote speaker at IV International Symposium on Nanoparticles/Nanomaterials and Applications 2020 (ISN2A-2020)

On 20-22 January 2020 in Caparica (Lisbon, Portugal), the IV International Symposium on Nanoparticles/Nanomaterials and Applications 2020 (ISN2A-2020) took place. Anna Roig attended the Symposium as a Keynote speaker with her talk “Magnetic Nanocapsules for Brain Repair and Imaging after a Stroke”.

MAGBBRIS project kicks off

The MAGBBRIS Consortium, where Yajie Zhang and Anna Roig participate, celebrated its kickoff meeting during the 26th and 27th of March 2018. The project coordinator, Anna Rosell, welcomed the participants at the Vall d’Hebron Research institute (VHIR), in Barcelona.

During the meetings the participants had the opportunity to understand better the EuroNanoMed Joint Call thanks to Janna Slabbekoorn from the Competitive Calls Unit from VHIR. Afterwards they heard a little bit about each partner’s background related to the project. the members of the consortium could also learn about the past work using endothelial progenitor cells for the treatment of stroke, nanocapsule synthesis, pre-clinical and clinical magnetic resonance imaging, different in vitro models of the blood-brain barrier, manufacturing of high volumes of proteins under GMP conditions and magnetic targeting of nanomaterials.

We wish a lot of success to the MAGBBRIS project!

Irene Anton was at the 31st Conference of the European Colloid and Interface Society

From the 3rd to the 8th of September of 2017 Irene Anton, a Ph.D. student from the N&N group, attended a big meeting of Colloids and Interfaces in Madrid (ECIS2017). The event was hosted by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Irene participated with two posters and was awarded with one of the two prizes sponsored by the journal Polymers.

  • Testing nanocellulose as biomaterial for epithelial regeneration

  • Encapsulating endothelial progenitor cells’ secretome into magnetic nanocapsules for targeted angiogenic therapies
