Interesting: PhD Thesis in nanocrystallization

pic_phd_degreeWe are looking for a highly motivated student with strong initiative holding a degree in Physics, Chemistry or Materials Science (or about to finish his/her studies) or having a Master Degree or willing to enroll in the Master Program of Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (http://www.uab.es).

Excellent qualifications (above 75 %) and a good command of English are essential. The research project aims at studying non-conventional mechanisms to control the crystallization of metastable structures at the nanoscale. For instance, the confinement in porous matrices and the application of tensile stresses are strategies that we want to explore.

The expected outcomes of the Thesis are very relevant at fundamental level and may have a strong impact in a wide range of application fields from information technologies to pharmaceutical sciences. We offer a 1 year part-time contract to initiate the research project within the Nanoparticles and Nanocomposites Group (http://www.icmab.es/nn/) at Institut de Ciència de Materials de Barcelona (http://www.icmab.es). Meanwhile, we will apply for governmental funding to pursue a PhD.

To join us send a short motivation email including a CV and a scan of your official academic records to mgich@icmab.es and roig@icmab.es
