WELCOME to Martí Gibert!

alt Martí Gibert, has just finished the first year of Nanocience and Nanotechnology in the UAB. This summer will work on a project about gelification and cristalization of SiO2 under the supervision of Marti Gich.

WELCOME to Carla Fernandez!

altCarla has just finished the second year of Nanocience’s and Nanotechnology at the UAB. This summer she has joined our group for a summer project  on Janus nanoparticles under the supervision of Dra. Anna Roig.

We welcome Maria as a new group member

Maria is a biochemist that obtained a Phd in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the UAB. She joints us to be our expert in cell culture studies. She will work in several group projects but very directly in the European Commission funded project “Interactions in Three-dimensional (3D) in vitro environments of Nanoparticles and Cells” lead by Anna Laromaine.

Prof. Luisa de Cola visits us (19th Feb)

luisa da colaMartí Gich invited Prof. de Cola to visit the ICMAB and to give seminar. We were delighted to listen to her latest research. She also had the opportunity to talk with several other groups.

Luisa De Cola is full Professor at the Institut de Science et d’Ingénierie Supramoléculaires (I.S.I.S.), Université de Strasbourg, chair of Supramolecular and (bio)Materials Chemistry. She is also part-time scientist at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Institute of Nanotechnology.

Attendance to the International Magnifyco 2013 Workshop

MagnifycoLarge N&N Group attendance (Siming Yu, Muling Zeng, Nerea Murillo, Anna Laromaine and Anna Roig) at the Workshop organized in Barcelona (20-22 Feb) by the EC-NMP Project MAGNIFYCO.
Activities of our group were exposed as an invited lecture, an oral communication and a poster. We learnt a lot and set the grounds for new collaborations.

Welcome to Si Ming Yu!

South_China_University_of_Technology_logoSi Ming has joined us for the next three years as a CSC fellow. He is a gradute in Food Engineering from the South China University of Technology in Guangzhou and will  prepare a Ph.D. on the Interactions in Three-dimensional environments of Nanoparticles and Cells under the supervision of Anna Laromaine. We wish him  a great success with his work and an enriching personal experience among us.

Welcome to Pengfei Niu!

Sichuan_University_logoPengfei is a Master Graduate in Polymer Composites from the Univesity of Sichuan in Chengdu (China). He will spend 3 years with us thanks to the financial support of the China Scholarship Council  to complete a Ph.D. working in the development of nanocomposite sensors prepared by Sol-Gel chemistry. We wish him plenty of scientific and personal success.

Project funded by the Plan Nacional de Investigación Científica!

Our application to the Fundamental Research Projects of the Spanish VI “Plan Nacional de Investigación Científica, Desarrollo e Innovación Tecnológica” with the project “Advanced preparation techniques for nanoparticles and their biomedical and environmental assessment (AdvancedNP)” has been funded.

We are very happy given the strong competition of the call due to the budgetary cuts.
