The paper “Magnetic Mesoporous Silica Nanorods Loaded with Ceria and Functionalized with Fluorophores for Multimodal Imaging“, was published in ACS Applied Nano Materials.
On October 22, Jan Grzelak defended his doctoral thesis “Magnetic and fluorescent mesoporous silica nanorods towards liver theranostic uses”.
A huge number of activities were organized this year to celebrate Women in Science Day, which is the 11th of February. This year it was the fifth anniversary of the 11F initiative, and four of our group members went virtually to different schools to talk about how they became scientists and to show them important women scientist figures.
The recent issue of Journal ChemNanoMat features a cover art made by Jan. The illustration corresponds to the recent paper published in this journal, a result of a collaboration of N&N Group and Smart Nano-Bio-Devices group at Bioengineering Institute of Catalonia (IBEC).
Our paper “Nanorods based on mesoporous silica containing iron oxide nanoparticles as catalytic nanomotors: study of motion dynamics” has been published in ChemNanoMat. It is a result of a collaboration of N&N Group and Smart Nano-Bio-Devices group at the Bioengineering Institute of Catalonia (IBEC).
Face masks are still one of the key factors helping us face the current COVID-19 pandemic, and have been part of the conversation since the first responses to the virus started to appear. The other key factor is physical distancing. Jan Grzelak, a PhD student in N&N Group, has presented an Online ICMAB Seminar on the current knowledge we have on the materials used to create masks and their reusability.
You can watch the recording of the seminar here.
Last week (27-29 August) Jan Grzelak (PhD student at the N&N group) attended the 12th International Conference and Workshop on Biological Barriers in Saarbrücken (Germany). He gave a talk on “Mesoporous silica nanorods as theranostic platforms”. Good job Jan!
The Spanish journal Diario Médico published an article about la Caixa INPhINIT program, highlighting the research topics of two fellows including Jan Grzelak from the NN Group. Jan explained the idea behind his project, the main goals and the current state of his research.
3rd July 2018
Jan Grzelak attended the award ceremony from La Caixa Fellows in Caixa Forum (Barcelona) and received a diploma for his excellence fellowship supported by La Caixa to perform his PhD at the N&N group on the topic “Mesoporous magnetic nanorods for theranostics”. Two other ICMAB researchers have also been granted with by a PhD grant from La Caixa and also assisted the ceremony.
Congratualtions Jan!
