N&N Group members participated in the 31st Conference of the European Society for Biomaterials:
New paper “New Carbons derived from alcohol-treated bacterial cellulose with optimal porosity for Li–O2 batteries“ has been published in the journal Renewable Energy.
Nerea Murugarren, a Master student at N&N Group, participated in the ACS Spring 2021 meeting, organized online by the American Chemical Society.
Anna Laromaine was the guest of “Màtrix”, a programme about technology at Catalan Ràdio Olot. Anna talked about her scientific career path, her daily life as a researcher and how to stimulate scientific vocations among young people. You can listen to the whole interview here.
The recent paper “Radiolabeled Cobaltabis(dicarbollide) Anion–Graphene Oxide Nanocomposites for In Vivo Bioimaging and Boron Delivery” has been published in ACS Applied Nano Materials. In this study, N&N Group members Amanda Muñoz and Anna Laromaine collaborated with Rosario Núñez and Gerard Tobias from ICMAB by sudying the GO-I-COSAN biocompatibility in the worm C. elegans.
We are happy yo share our latest publication about bacterial nanocellulose (BNC): In vivo soft tissue reinforcement with bacterial nanocellulose.
A huge number of activities were organized this year to celebrate Women in Science Day, which is the 11th of February. This year it was the fifth anniversary of the 11F initiative, and four of our group members went virtually to different schools to talk about how they became scientists and to show them important women scientist figures.
The recent issue of Journal ChemNanoMat features a cover art made by Jan. The illustration corresponds to the recent paper published in this journal, a result of a collaboration of N&N Group and Smart Nano-Bio-Devices group at Bioengineering Institute of Catalonia (IBEC).
N&N Group welcomes three new students! Nanthilde Malandain is a PhD student and her project on bacterial cellulose will be supervised by Anna Laromaine. Darla Mare and Cristina Mira have been awarded the JAE Intro: Introduction to research fellowships for undergraduate and master students.
