Zheng Ma, PhD candidate at the N&N Group, attended Joint European Magnetic Symposia (JEMS2019) in Uppsala, Sweden (26-30 August). He gave a talk “Structural and Magnetic Properties of Cr-substituted ε-Fe2O3 Nanoparticles”. It was a collaborative work between our group (supervised by Martí Gich) and CMEOS group in ICMAB, as well as our colleagues from ALBA synchrotron.

The N&N group is back from the holidays break and today we announce an open PhD position (FPI scholarship). If you are a student with a strong background in biomedicine and you are highly motivated and interested in multidisciplinary projects, apply to our offer!

Summer group activity: Room Escape!

Last 25th July 2019, some of the N&N group members participated in a room escape in Barcelona as an end of season team building activity. The room scape was called EL PROYECTO DE LA BRUJA and consisted on a competition between two groups to solve 10 puzzles in less than 1 hours and 15 minutes. We all thank Amanda Muñoz who was the organizer. Both groups made it on time and we had a great time together!

One Year follow up meeting of the MAGBBRIS project

Natalia Martínez and Amanda Muñoz at the Biotechnology Annual Congress

10th-12th July 2019: The master students, Natalia Martínez and Amanda Muñoz attended the Biotechnology Annual Congress (BAC2019) at Madrid. They presented their research in a poster session. This congress gathers biotechnologist students and experts from different fields every July. This year, the principal talks were about metabolomics, business, nanomedicine and bio-imprinting. Looking forward for the next Biotechnology Annual Congress in Zaragoza next July!

Sole Roig gave a talk at the 4th International Conference of Natural Fibers

Last 1st to 3rd July 2019, the PhD fellow Soledad Roig attended the 4th International Conference of Natural Fibers that took place in Porto (Portugal). There, she presented an interesting oral contribution with the title: “Multilayer bacterial cellulose with confined nanoparticle distribution” which was based on her most recent published work.

Congratulations to all the authors of the paper Insights into Preformed Human Serum Albumin Corona on Iron Oxide Nanoparticles: Structure, Effect of Particle Size, Impact on MRI Efficiency, and Metabolization! This work was published online the 19^th June 2019 in the journal Applied Biomaterials from the American Society of Chemistry. Do not miss it!

Congratulations Deyaa, new N&N graduate!

We are happy to announce that last 19th June 2019, Deyaa Youssef successfully defended his PhD thesis. Deyaa was a visitor researcher at the N&N group during two years. He worked with bacterial nanocellulose composites with carbon nanotubes for energy applications.

Great moments at the ICMAB party 2019!

The N&N members were very active participants at the activities organized for the ICMAB party 2019. We all enjoyed very much the orienteering race, the cooking competition, the concert and the ping pong tournament! Also, the original creations of Amanda, Natalia and Jan were very popular at the video and pictures contests. Good job guys!
