On 26 May N&N PhD fellow Amanda Muñoz was a guest of ICMAB Live Chats on ICMAB´s Instagram account, . She talked about working from home and the return to ICMAB.
The recording of the chat can be seen on ICMAB’s Instagram.
When the SARS-CoV-2 virus outbreak began in Spain, the Chinese Students and Scholars Association in Barcelona launched a fundraising campaign. Some institutions and people in China contacted them and donated them masks. This week, the Association has donated 1,000 masks to the ICMAB. Wenchao Duan, a PhD fellow at the N&N Group, is a member of this Association:
N&N Group will gladly accept recipients of Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions fellowships. The MSCA call for postdoctoral researchers is currently open and the details can be found here.

The CORNEAL-BC project explores the possibilities of bacterial nanocellulose to treat corneal wounds in close collaboration with ophthalmologists. We are very happy to see this project featured on the CSIC R+D newsletter! Read the article (Spanish) here and learn more about it!
We are happy to announce some good news amidst the COVID-19 crisis: Our paper “Bacterial nanocellulose as a corneal bandage material: a comparison with amniotic membrane” has been published in Biomaterials Science.
Laura González, a former member of the N&N Group, has been awarded the PhD Extraordinary Award by Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, for her doctoral thesis that was developed during the period 2016-2017. Laura’s thesis, “Evaluating inorganic nanoparticles in the living organism Caenorhabditis elegans”, was supervised by Anna Roig and Anna Laromaine.
Members on N&N Group have published yet another article in recent days. The paper “Magnetic properties of Cr-substituted ε-(Fe1-xCrx)2O3 nanoparticles with epsilon structure” authored by Ma Zheng and Martí Gich was published in the Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials.
Good news has been received from Programa d’Indústria del Coneixement! The project Novel Nanocellulose Patches to Treat Corneal Wounds (CORNEAL-BC) has been awarded with a 20.000€ grant.
New article “From Silver Plates to Spherical Nanoparticles: Snapshots of Microwave-Assisted Polyol Synthesis” authored by Miquel Torras and Anna Roig has been published in ACS Omega. The article is available here.
