We are pleased to announce the incorporation of three new students that will work on their final degree projects in the N&N Group. Meet Judith, Roger and Pere.
Our recent work about bacterial nanocellulose and stem cells, published in Small, has been featured as a press release in the ICMAB and CSIC webpages. The post explains in a comprehensive way the results of this study through an interview with Irene Anton. Enjoy the read!
A huge number of activities were organized this year to celebrate Women in Science Day, which is the 11th of February. This year it was the fifth anniversary of the 11F initiative, and four of our group members went virtually to different schools to talk about how they became scientists and to show them important women scientist figures.
We have a new Dr in the group! On Tuesday February 9th, Zheng Ma defended his thesis, “Synthesis and Characterization of ε-Fe2O3 Nanoparticles and Thin Films“. The thesis was supervised by Martí Gich.
All N&N Group researchers working with bacterial cellulose attended the 4th EPNOE International Junior Scientists Meeting (3-4 February). Amanda and Sole contributed with oral presentations. Cristina presented a poster and won the Best Poster award.
The recent issue of Journal ChemNanoMat features a cover art made by Jan. The illustration corresponds to the recent paper published in this journal, a result of a collaboration of N&N Group and Smart Nano-Bio-Devices group at Bioengineering Institute of Catalonia (IBEC).
Our paper “Nanorods based on mesoporous silica containing iron oxide nanoparticles as catalytic nanomotors: study of motion dynamics” has been published in ChemNanoMat. It is a result of a collaboration of N&N Group and Smart Nano-Bio-Devices group at the Bioengineering Institute of Catalonia (IBEC).
We are happy to share with you that the project Novel Nanocellulose Patches to Treat Corneal Wounds (CORNEAL-BNC) founded by a Llavor grant has been selected as a finalist in the PREMIO BIOTECNOLOGÍA I+D+I 2020 from Premios Expoquimia 2020. This translational project joins forces with the Barraquer Clinic of Barcelona to develop novel solutions for the treatment of corneal wounds. Congratulations to all the researchers involved!
N&N Group welcomes three new students! Nanthilde Malandain is a PhD student and her project on bacterial cellulose will be supervised by Anna Laromaine. Darla Mare and Cristina Mira have been awarded the JAE Intro: Introduction to research fellowships for undergraduate and master students.
