We are happy to announce that our paper “Accurate iron quantification in colloids and nanocomposites by a simple UV-Vis protocol” has been recently published in the journal Microchimica Acta.
The study has been carried out by N&N Group members Miquel Torras and Anna Roig, as well as former members Carlos Moya and Gustavo Pasquevich.
The paper “Mitochondria-targeted magnetic gold nanoheterostructure for multi-modal imaging guided photothermal and photodynamic therapy of triple-negative breast cancer” has been published in Chemical Engineering Journal. The paper is co-authored by Anna Roig and a former N&N Group member Siming Yu (now Guangdong Provincial Engineering and Technological Research Center for Drug Carrier Development, Guangzhou).
Our paper “Magnetic Properties of Synthetic Fluorophlogopite Mica Crystals” has been published in Materials Advances. Congratulations to the authors: Zheng Ma and Martí Gich!
Meet Naureen Khanam, a new PhD student in the N&N Group! Aurna, as she prefers to be called, comes from Bangladesh and is going to work with Martí in the FeMiT poject.
The PhD fellow Irene Anton from the NN group participated in the TechTransferStories launched by the Technology Transfer unit of ICMAB. In this 20 minute-interview, Irene explains her personal experience researching in collaboration with the private sector to find medical applications for the biopolymer bacterial nanocellulose. Face masks are still one of the key factors helping us face the current COVID-19 pandemic, and have been part of the conversation since the first responses to the virus started to appear. The other key factor is physical distancing. Jan Grzelak, a PhD student in N&N Group, has presented an Online ICMAB Seminar on the current knowledge we have on the materials used to create masks and their reusability.

Amanda Muñoz, a PhD researcher in the N&N group, became a finalist of the Biorender Graphical Abstract challenge with a visualization of her work with C. elegans and nanoparticles.
